November Happening at the Rosamond Gifford Zoo

The cold weather is rolling in but there is still fun to be had at the Rosamond Gifford Zoo this month. Check out the fun activities for the month of November:

“Squishing of the Squash”
November 7
10:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Free for members and with Zoo admission What do you do with an 880 lb. pumpkin? Give it to an elephant, of course! Join us for the 4th annual Squishing of the Squash, a gourd-filled gala of fun! Come to the Zoo and watch as the animals stomp, chomp and romp with pumpkins! New this year: underwater pumpkin carving in the penguin exhibit.

Public Overnight
November 13-14
7:00 p.m. to 10:00 a.m.

As the leaves change, the days get shorter, and the air chills, the animals at the Zoo change, too! Spend the night at the Zoo and learn how our animals prepare for the winter during this fantastic opportunity for families.

The experience will include:
  • A guided tour of the animals late in the evening and early in the morning
  • Make enrichment for some of our Zoo animals
  • Pizza dinner and a light breakfast
  • A personal visit from some of our outreach animals
  • Admission to the Zoo on Saturday, November 14
For more information or to check availability, please call Liz Schmidt at 435-8511 x205 or e-mail Lschmidt@rosamondgiffordzoo.org.

Art Gone Wild
Through November 21
10:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Free for members and with Zoo admission Dozens of extraordinary works-of-art created by the animals living at the Rosamond Gifford Zoo will be on display. The exhibition includes several pieces produced by trunks, paws, feet, hooves, scales, skin and, of course, brushes. Don’t miss this limited engagement!
