You’re Invited to a “Days of Our Lives” Wedding! |
| |
"Like sands through the hourglass, so are the days of our lives." For over one-third of a century, those words have introduced and underscored one of daytime drama's rare mainstays -- "Days of our Lives."
"Days of our Lives" is set in the fictitious midwestern town of Salem. The core families are the Bradys, the Hortons, and the DiMeras, and the multi-layered storylines involve elements of romance, adventure, mystery, comedy and drama.
In the upcoming episodes, Melanie Layton (Molly Burnett) and Philip Kiriakis (Jay Johnson) are engaged to be married. But with ex-flame Nathan Horton (Mark Hapka) still in the picture, will the wedding go off without a hitch?
“Troublemaker” Melanie Layton arrived in Salem in the spring of 2008. Soon she fell hard for the rich and powerful Philip Kiriakis but he was already engaged. When Melanie snagged a job at Philip’s company, Titan, she tried to come between him and his fiancée. However, Philip saw through her schemes and rejected her advances.
Melanie started living at Maggie Horton’s home and she began to mature, and eventually gave up on pursuing Philip. She became a student nurse at Salem University Hospital and there she met a hunky first year intern, Nathan Horton. They soon began dating. Just as things were getting serious, Philip’s engagement was called off– and he sought comfort in Melanie’s arms.
Philip and Melanie had a one night stand before Philip returned to his fiancée. Melanie was hurt but resumed her relationship with the down-to-earth Nathan. Shortly after, Melanie and Philip’s affair was exposed and both ended up alone.
Nathan slowly forgave Melanie just as Philip decided she was the girl for him. And Melanie was then torn between good-guy Nathan, who made her feel like a better person, and not-so-good-guy Philip, who accepted her for all her faults. Eventually, Melanie chose Philip, and now they are engaged to be married…even though Melanie still has lingering feelings for Nathan.
The Philip/Melanie wedding is fast approaching and will be a large turning point for all of these characters. Make sure you tune-in every weeknight at 6pm and 11pm on SOAPnet to watch the drama unravel.
