Sonnenberg’s Annual Orchid Show Provided by Sonnenberg Gardens & Mansion  |

Bid winter weather adieu with an escape to the greenhouses of Sonnenberg Gardens & Mansion State Historic Park in Canandaigua for the Annual Orchid Show, an Educational Event, Friday – Sunday, March 5-7 in Canandaigua, from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. each day.
Flower fans of all ages will delight in these exotic blooms, showcased in our historic Lord & Burnham greenhouse complex. On display, guests will find colorful Cattleyas and Cymbidiums, delicate Dendrobiums, pretty Phalaenopsis, Paphiopedilums and more. Also open will be the Tropical Palm House and the Cactus House.
Educational Seminars from guest speakers and master orchid growers, Joe Kunisch, (Bloomfield Orchids of Pittsford), Alan Salzman, (Alan C. Salzman Orchids of Penfield) and Fran Murphy of Murphy’s Orchids will be offered at 11 a.m. and 1 pm Saturday and 2 pm Sunday in the Greenhouse Planting Room. Topics covered during these seminars will include basics on orchid varieties, orchid care at home and other helpful information. The master orchid growers will also be on hand at non-lecture times throughout the weekend at the Retail Center to consult with guests. Exotic blooms from each grower, as well as a selection of dish gardens and other plants from Sonnenberg, will be on sale at Sonnenberg’s Gift Shop for visitors to take home.
On Friday, take advantage of special re-potting services (for donation) in the Greenhouse Planting Room, offered by Sonnenberg horticulturalist and director David Hutchings.
