In 1989 Edie Brickell & New Bohemians' "What I Am" peaked at number seven on the pop singles chart. Poison's "Your Mama Don't Dance" broke into the Top 40 chart. In 1994 Kurt Cobain was hospitalized in Rome. He was in a coma following an overdose on a mix of prescription drugs and alcohol. In 1995 Pantera frontman Phil Anselmo spoke in Montreal, and said that rap music advocates the killing of white people. In 1996 Presidents of the United States of America's self-titled album was certified double Platinum. In 1997 U2 released the album "Pop." Ben Folds Five released the album "Whatever and Ever Amen." Alice in Chains' self-titled album and the album "Face Lift" were certified multi-Platinum, while the Wallflowers' album "Bringing Down the Horse" was certified Platinum. In 1999 Korn's album "Follow the Leader" was certified multi-Platinum, while 311's album "Grassroots" was certified Gold. In 2002 U2 won seven trophies at the Meteor Irish Music Awards In 2003 The first lawsuits in relation to the tragic nightclub fire in West Warwick, Rhode Island, were filed against Great White and the owners of The Station. In 2007 Good Charlotte's Joel Madden allegedly struck a female photographer on her left breast with the heel of his hand as he tried to help girlfriend Nicole Richie out of a Beverly Hills restaurant. Moments later Madden was caught on video stiff-arming another member of the paparazzi. In 2008 Linda Perry, of 4 Non Blondes fame, sued Warner Music Group over royalties from James Blunt's album "Back to Bedlam." Blunt was signed to her Custard record label, and Atlantic Records was distributing his disc. In their original agreement, Blunt received 13-percent and Perry took seven-percent of the royalties from the project. But when the album took off, Blunt's management renegotiated the deal with Atlantic to get a bigger cut, which Perry claimed Atlantic provided by illegally reducing her share of the profits. Yaz announced that the group was back together and was planning a summer tour.<
