Smith, Living Colour Pay Tribute To The Who
Carnegie Hall was the setting for a tribute to The Who on Tuesday. "The New Jersey Star Ledger" reports that 21 acts, including Patti Smith and Living Colour, performed at the famed New York venue for the event dubbed, appropriately enough, A Tribute To the Who. Smith sang The Who's "My Generation" in a performance that put a punk rock twist on the classic. Living Colour sang the band's 1980s track "Eminence Front," while Bobby McFerrin revisited "My Generation" in an arrangement free of instrumental accompaniment.
This week's show raised money for music education programs and was part of a series of similar "tribute" shows which have featured the music of Bruce Springsteen, Bob Dylan, and others.
The Who were just in the spotlight last month with their halftime performance at Super Bowl 44. |
