ABBA, Genesis, More To Achieve Hall Of Fame Status
Swede supergroup ABBA and Brit progressive band Genesis are among the artists set for enshrinement into the Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame tonight. ABBA and Genesis join The Stooges, The Hollies, and Jimmy Cliff as inductees at the 25th annual Hall Of Fame ceremony. Presenters at the event will include surviving Bee Gees Barry and Robin Gibb, who will induct ABBA into the Hall; Trey Anastasio of Phish, who's been tapped to induct Genesis; Wyclef Jean, who will introduce Jimmy Cliff; and E Street Band rocker Steve Van Zandt, who will present The Hollies. Green Day's Billie Joe Armstrong also will be on hand tonight, presenting the Iggy Pop-fronted rock band The Stooges. Also look for performances by Adam Levine and Jesse Carmichael of Maroon 5, Faith Hill, and Chris Isaak. The 2010 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony will take place at the Waldorf Astoria Hotel in New York City. The Fuse Network will air the event live at 8:30 p.m. Eastern. It will also be streamed at www.fusetv.com. The Hall also will honor non-performers with the Ahmet Ertegun Award. This list includes record executive David Geffen; songwriters Mort Shuman, Jesse Stone and Otis Blackwell; and songwriting teams Barry Mann and Cynthia Weil and Jeff Barry and Ellie Greenwich. Jackson Browne will induct Geffen while Carole King will present the songwriters.
