Ray Charles Musical Heading To Broadway
A musical featuring the hits of Ray Charles is heading to Broadway. "The New York Times" reports that "Unchain My Heart, the Ray Charles Musical" will debut on November 7th. Pulitzer Prize-winner Suzan-Lori Parks will pen the book for the show with Sheldon Epps directing. "Unchain My Heart's" premise is that during Charles' last live recording session he reflects back on his life and career. Interspersed with these memories will be songs from the late music legend's catalog. Stuart Benjamin -- who also produced the 2004 biopic "Ray" starring Jamie Foxx -- is the Broadway show's lead producer.
Preview performances of "Unchain My Heart, the Ray Charles Musical" are scheduled to begin this October. |
