Green Day Frontman Earns Appreciation From Iggy Pop
Iggy Pop is singing the praises of Green Day's Billie Joe Armstrong. Armstrong welcomed The Stooges at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony Monday night, and Pop says he thought the younger rocker did a great job with his presentation. Pop adds that Armstrong's task wasn't an easy one. He notes, quote, "It's hard to give a speech at one of these things," adding, quote, "you're puttin' people to sleep here, let's face it." Pop also says he appreciated what Armstrong said about The Stooges, and calls him "a nice person" with "nice energy." The Stooges are part of the Rock Hall's Class of 2010, along with Jimmy Cliff, Genesis, The Hollies, and ABBA.
