Travis Frontman Discusses Solo Work
Travis frontman Fran Healy is using some downtime to offer his first solo set, "Wreckorder," which he doesn't necessarily see as a big departure from the band. Healy tells Spinner.com, quote, "This album, compared to all the other albums, I must be honest, is exactly the same. All the Travis albums are my songs, so each album is just a collection of songs. The songs with me are always so personal I always looked at it like that." The vocalist says after finishing touring last year, everyone was burnt out but he wanted to keep on going so he asked and received everyone's blessing to do so. But Healy isn't entirely on his own on the disc -- the album includes two high-profile guests. Healy duets with Neko Case on the track "Sing Me To Sleep," while Sir Paul McCartney plays bass on the song "As It Comes." Healy's "Wreckorder" is due October 5th.
Healy is also hitting the road this summer on his own, and previewing some of his new material. He's currently opening shows for Keane, and will follow with a few solo dates. His next stop will be with Keane at the House of Blues in Las Vegas on Friday. Fans who can't catch Healy in concert can hear the new demo "Holiday" on his MySpace page.
