Vampire Weekend Ready To Move Forward
Vampire Weekend is still going strong on their "Contra" album, but the band would rather turn around music sooner than later. Singer Ezra Koenig tells BBC's 6Music, quote, "We don't want to wait forever. It's exciting, so we have thought speculatively and are thinking where we could record. I have just started watching the new TV show 'True Blood' so maybe we'll go down to Louisiana and record it all there." Drummer Chris Tomson adds that some of the music they've been working on may find its way into shows. He explains, quote, "We are going to have a new set, new songs for the fall, so hopefully people will be excited." Vampire Weekend will launch a North American tour with two shows in Vancouver, British Columbia on August 27th and 28th, Koenig says that the trek will serve to wrap up the group's current phase, explaining, quote, "It's kind of like our farewell tour, so after this tour it will be a new era for us." In advance of the U.S. and Canadian shows, Vampire Weekend will be taking part in two Asian festivals. The band is set for the Jisan Valley Rock Festival in Seoul, South Korea on July 30th, and the Fuji Rock Festival in Yuzawa-Machi, Japan on August 1st.
