Richard Ashcroft Doubting Liam Gallagher's Predictions On Post-Oasis Band
While Liam Gallagher is proclaiming his new band Beady Eye will eclipse his work with Oasis, there are some doubters. Former Verve leader Richard Ashcroft knows what it's like moving on from a successful group, and says he doesn't see Gallagher's prediction coming true. He tells England's "XFM," quote, "Whether timing-wise, or culturally, anything is going to be as big as Oasis, I don't think so. I don't think anyone will." Ashcroft also notes that Liam's brother, Oasis guitarist Noel Gallagher, was a big part of the group's success, adding, quote, "Because of the nature of Oasis when they arrived, there was a big vacuum, everyone was scared of rock and roll. And Noel did it, Noel showed the way for a lot of people that there's still some great songs to be written." However, Ashcroft isn't against Liam's new musical effort. He also admits he's "really excited" to hear Beady Eye, as well as Noel Gallagher's solo material.
