Brandon Boyd Understands The Thrill Of The Guitar
In Incubus, Mike Einziger gets to do most of the guitar work, but it was up to Brandon Boyd to lay down the licks for his solo album. The singer notes that his producer Dave Fridmann handled most of the instrumentation on "The Wild Trapeze." This gave Boyd the opportunity to play -- and record -- his first ever guitar solos, and Boyd notes it was an incredible experience.
Boyd adds that he can imagine what it would be like to be an experienced guitarist, noting, quote, "you could sort of stand there on a well-lit stage with a lot of sound behind you and feel like you had lightning bolts in your fingers." He says the track "A Night Without Cars" includes his very first guitar solos. Boyd's "The Wild Trapeze" is in stores now. |
