Fran Healy Credits McCartney With Vegetarian Switch
Travis vocalist Fran Healy has an extremely high profile guest on his new solo album. Sir Paul McCartney agreed to play bass on a song, but Healy's arm twisting included a promise that he would go vegetarian like the legendary Beatle. So far he's remained true to his word, which shouldn't surprise anyone who knows Healy. He tells Spinner.com, quote, "I'm quite Scottish about it. Whether you promise your dog you're gonna take him for a walk, it's a promise and I'm quite loyal when it comes to things like that." Healy says that while McCartney was a factor in his decision to give up meat, he notes he also had a bad dream of witnessing a cow and calf being slaughtered that also started him thinking about becoming a vegetarian.
Healy notes that McCartney helped with the transition with a gift of some of his late wife Linda's vegetarian cookbooks along with a note saying, quote, "This should be enough to get you started. Love, Paul." The vocalist adds that he took McCartney's suggestion and tried out the vegetarian lasagna, which he says was great. Fran Healy's "Wreckorder" album is due October 5th. McCartney is featured on the track "As It Comes." |
