Jimmy Wayne Tackling Tough Terrain As He Approaches Phoenix
Jimmy Wayne is now less than 100 miles from his destination on his "Meet Me Halfway" walk, and he's seeing the lengthy trek take its toll. In a live webcast Tuesday from the Payson, Arizona area the singer noted he was starting to have problems with his knee. While taking a break to ice the joint, he explained that he started feeling pain on Monday. He said he thinks he twisted his knee, and he aggravated the injury Tuesday walking down a five-mile hill in which he descended two-thousand feet. He mentioned that he has another even steeper hill coming up but he's not discouraged, adding, quote, "I'll be fine. I'll get there if I have to put crutches on."
"There" is Phoenix, the end point of the country star's "Meet Me Halfway" walk. With the trek, which he began in January, he's raising money and awareness for homeless teens and young adults. Wayne is scheduled to complete his journey over the weekend. He'll perform a free concert in Mesa, Arizona Saturday and officially complete his seven-month, 17-hundred-mile walk on Sunday. |
