Metallica Rewards Concert "Campaigner" With Tickets
Metallica is rewarding a fan in New Zealand who "campaigned" to bring the band to his town. ContactMusic.com reports that the rockers are giving free tickets to Christchurch, New Zealand resident Jamie Woods. Woods created a petition to get the metal band to visit Christchurch as part of its "World Magnetic" trek. Metallica obliged, even scaling down its show to accommodate the smaller venue there. Unfortunately for Woods, the shows in Christchurch were sold out when he attempted to buy tickets. The band subsequently had one of its reps call Woods to get him tickets to another show. Woods said that he thought that he'd received a crank call, telling the rep, quote, "You cannot do that to someone. That's bloody cruel." Metallica will launch the fall leg of its "World Magnetic Tour" on September 15th in Melbourne, Australia. The band's two shows at the CBS Canterbury Arena in Christchurch, New Zealand are on the books for September 21st and 22nd.
