Report: "American Idol" Taking Look At Jessica Simpson
Pop singer and reality TV personality Jessica Simpson could take over the "American Idol" judge's chair left vacant by Simon Cowell's departure. TMZ.com reports the vocalist has been in meetings with "Idol" producers and there appears to be a "mutual interest" between both parties. Fox producers are expected to make a formal announcement about Cowell's replacement sometime around the beginning of September. Several names have been rumored to be on the "Idol" short list for replacing the show's former sharp-tongued judge. Representatives for singers Justin Timberlake and Elton John said earlier this week that neither big name would be taking the gig. Other singers like Harry Connick Jr. and Chris Isaak have also been rumored to be under consideration for positions with "American Idol." |
