Plant Says He Feels "Far Away" From Heavy Rock
Robert Plant is admitting that he no longer feels a connection with heavy rock, the musical genre that made him a star. The legendary Led Zeppelin frontman made the comment after checking out Zeppelin band mate John Paul Jones' show with his hard-rocking band Them Crooked Vultures in London. Plant told the UK newspaper "The Independent," quote, "I feel so far away from heavy rock now. It's quite odd, how mine and John's paths seem to have crossed over -- we've sort of gone into each others' worlds a bit." In his pre-Zeppelin days, Jones played as a session musician on "softer" recordings with the likes of Cat Stevens and Dusty Springfield.
Plant is continuing his musical path this month with the release of "Band of Joy" on September 14th. The album reportedly expands on the folk rock sound that he explored with Alison Krauss on 2007's Grammy-winning album "Raising Sand." |
