Spice Girls Musical Being Written
A Spice Girls musical is in the works. The "BBC" reports the production is the idea of Judy Craymer, who produced the hit movie-musical "Mamma Mia! The Movie," featuring the songs of ABBA. The Spice Girls musical is being written by actress Jennifer Saunders, who is famous for her role as Edina "Eddie" Monsoon in the BBC sitcom "Absolutely Fabulous." The show she is writing will be called "Viva Forever" and will be based on the songbook of the all-girl British pop group. It will also feature a new, contemporary story about friendship and fame. Saunders says, quote, "My daughters grew up with the Spice Girls -- I had to write the book for them as well as myself."
The comedic actress made a cameo in the 1997 Spice Girls movie, "Spice World." The musical's producers are planning a 2012 opening in London's West End for the Spice Girls' "Viva Forever" musical. |
